What is a Content Management System?
Content Management is the separation of information from the look and feel of a website.
All websites use HTML code to display information. A lot of websites use HTML only design and publish a website, when your web browser sees this site it is turned into a site that you can easily see. The problem is that only the person who wrote the website code, or someone who knows how to read and edit code can do so. That leaves 99% of the population unable to manage their own website, which is not in many peoples best interest.
A content management system is software that keeps track of every piece of content on you web site, much like your local public library keeps track of books and stores them. Content can be simple text, photos, music, video, documents, or just about anything you can think of. A major advantage of using a CMS is that it requires almost no technical skill or knowledge to manage. Since the CMS manages all your content, you don't have to.
